A CRITICAL ENABLER FOR TRANSFORMATION
In order to successfully undertake a programme of large transformation it is critical to ensure the organisation is prepared and have sufficient capability in place to carry out the change. Such things as ensuring the existing BAU and regulatory change projects / initiatives have been rightsized and prioritised to free up time and resource to support transformation. Embarking on a transformation requires an assessment on the right levels of capability and resourcing required to support the change. Making sure that the existing operating model and supporting business processes are well defined and documented to a level which will ensure easier transition through the transformation as the operating model will inevitably change. Ensuring the relevant governance is in place to support the programme along with a robust programme change framework and supporting set of services are in place. An overall business case will need to be established prior to the programme being established, specifying the overall cost vs benefits over a set period of time e.g. 5 or 10 years. Overall networking and infrastructure will also need to be fit for purpose to support the transformation especially in enabling the delivery phase of the programme.
Key areas of focus for transformation:
- Resource and capability assessment
- Right size and prioritise existing portfolios of change
- Clear definition of existing operating model and supporting key processes
- Develop governance and supporting PMO/TMO to support
- Define a clear and agreed business case and associated budgets
- Ensure programme delivery framework is in place and fit for purpose
- Preparation for any RFP / procurement to support the transformation
- Define clear budget control and tracking.
Partners in Change has a large amount of experience in managing and delivering large scale transformation programmes, both from large organisations who are used to carrying out major transformation change though to smaller companies who have little experience and indeed capability to undertake a major transformation.
We provide a comprehensive review of the business / programme to identify areas of improvement prior to transformation. Our experience and tools to support transformation (e.g. capability assessments, business case review). Our experience of developing a governance, supporting transformation management office (TMO) and programme delivery framework to support transformation. We also have capability and experience on defining existing operating models along with defining core business processes prior to target transformation operating models being defined. In addition, we have a toolkit of processes and supporting documentation to help with addressing each of the key areas of focus above.
